MOTOWN ON MONDAYS LA
Featuring The MOM LA Players
EXPO & MONALISA
What began in 2009 as a humble Monday night, Motown and Soul relatives party in San Francisco, (Motown On Mondays) has since exploded into a weekly multi-city dance party across the States with family worldwide.
MOM is a family of DJs, producers, musicians and music enthusiasts that all share a passion for the convergence of soul music and dancing. We perform at and produce weekly, monthly and special events across North America; including San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Denver, Chicago, Austin, Brooklyn and beyond; as well as Winnipeg, Canada and Sao Paolo, Brazil. MOM DJs represent the most spirited soul parties with a unique vibration. We gather our musical inspiration from Motown, soul, funk and disco with an emphasis on the originals plus new and classic remixes/edits.
Motown On Mondays Los Angeles chapter happens every week at The Short Stop in Echo Park. As one of the first cities to join the MOM family, LA has been a seminal chapter in the MOM DJs brand. Over the nearly the last 5 years, the LA chapter of MOM has become the leading Monday night dance party in the city, and one of Los Angeles’ favorite funk/soul dance parties, attracting several hundred party-goers every week. MOM LA has hosted a countless number of world famous DJ names, including: Cut Chemist, Z-Trip, Shortkut, J.Rocc, DJ Spinna, Mayer Hawthorne, Rich Medina, Danny Krivit, J.Period, Skratch Bastid, Prince Paul, DJ Maseo of De La Soul, Cosmo Baker, Jeremy Sole, DJ Spider & many more. MOM LA has worked special events and promotions with establishments such as Ace Hotel in Downtown LA, Grand Park, The Hollywood Bowl, FigAt7th and more. Once a best kept secret, Motown On Mondays now stands as a staple of the city of Los Angeles.

Expo has been independently organizing and promoting a long list of his own events within and outside of LA including the world famous LA chapter of Motown On Mondays, his weekly open-format party Do It!, the most recent editions of The Root Down, & a 5 year run of the monthly party Escapism (co-founded with DJ collaborator Phoreyz).
